Sitting in Mass the thought occurred to me that the reason we were all there was because we believed that 2000 years ago God came to earth. If we believe this then we also believe the Lord will come again to judge both the living and the dead. I worry that most Christians neglect thinking about this part of our Faith. I worry that the Lord will find His followers unprepared.
He came one Christmas morning and for all we know He could come again this Christmas morning. It is our job as Christians to be ready for His return.
During this advent let us prepare for God to come into our lives through the Christmas liturgies but let us also prepare as though our Lord is finally coming again.
Lord God as a waiting people we yearn for the final fulfillment of your plan. Make us ready oh Lord. Remove from us all unforgiveness and anger, all selfishness and denial, all passion and envy, all darkness and confusion. Remove from us oh Lord any fear that is not of you. Come spiritually into our hearts each day, Father and prepare us for your final coming. Crush the evil one in this time of darkness. Raise up a remnant of faithful followers who will prepare the way for your coming. Send us the spirit of St. John the Baptist. Send your Holy Spirit to baptize with fire your followers. Prepare our souls, oh Lord, to come home to you. Amen
Marannatha! Come, Lord Jesus!
Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. Matthew 25:13
